Manifesting for beginners

Updated: Mar 14, 2021

You probably have heard about manifesting or better yet, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. If you haven’t, you are about to learn all about it. Manifesting is all about the law of attraction. What you do, what you say, what you think, and even who and what you surround yourself with all create the reality around you.

When I say manifesting what is it that I am referring to? Could we use the definition, to display or show or prove something? Yes and no, but in this instance, it means to do things that will create the outcome one wants or desires. It is not done with one simple thing. I am not going to lie, it takes work and consistency.

Manifesting takes your mind, body, and soul. It takes your mind to think about what reality you want to create and helps with motivating yourself to do it. You have probably often heard what you think is what you’re going to get. Say for instance you wake up in the morning and one of your first thoughts is, “It is going to be a bad day”. You have the thought and so you have already put that type of vibe/energy out into your reality and you haven't tried hard to think past that so that is all you will see throughout your day. When it comes to the body it is so important. It holds your mind and soul. It allows you to take action. If it is not taken care of, opportunities and possibilities become limited. Now I am not saying you cannot work on bettering your body, it just means you might have to work a little harder. Meaning, you might have to work on your body before you can do anything else. Manifest a healthier body so that you may manifest the reality you are wanting to create for your future. Now the soul, it has a lot to do with your heart. As I have mentioned in a previous post about chakras, the heart is the center of the 7 basic ones. (If you want to know more about chakras go check out my chakra post). If your heart is not in it, then how are you able to manifest. It holds your motivation and desire. See how it all ties together!

What are ways to help you start manifesting? There are plenty of ways to manifest. The first thing I suggest is to take a piece of paper and write down all that you want in life and for your life. It could be your dream job, car, true love, and/or even creating a bigger family; the sky is your limit. Once you are done writing all of that, go through the list and number them in order starting with the most reachable one all the way to the least reachable one. Remember that all of it is possible, all of it can be your reality, it is all about what is more achievable now. Be sure to keep that piece of paper in a safe place, where you can find it when needed. Depending on how long your list is, divide the list into three sections. If your list is less than 10, there is no need to divide it up. If your list is at least 18, only divide it up into 2 sections (exp. 1-9 and 10-18). The first section is the first thing you are going to work on manifesting.

Ways to Manifest

Vision boards I've created.

As you are starting out it is important not to overwhelm yourself, this is why I had you break up your list into sections. The key, in the beginning, is putting your mind in the right place. Your heart is already in it and you know your body’s capability to do such things, so now it is all about putting your mind in the right place. One of the things you can do is make a vision board. You can find “How To's” on Pinterest and YouTube on this. I find this to be the most fun and the most effective way to manifest, at least it is for me. You pick out all you want on it and put it together with the way you want it and then place it where you can see it every day. It is said that when you see it with your own two eyes you can envision it better which will trigger you to take action to make it happen for yourself.

Another way is if you have a mirror in your room or a room you spend a lot of time in, take sticky notes and write down individually what you are wanting to manifest, but write it in a sense that you already have it and then for each manifestation you are creating write down a positive thought about yourself that has to do with what you are wanting to manifest. For example, you are wanting to manifest your dream job of becoming a chef, so you write down on one note “I am a chef” and on another note you write, “My knife skills are top-notch!” Take all the sticky notes and place them around your mirror and every time you look into the mirror read some of those notes, if not all, to yourself. It is more effective if you say it out loud, and because you are not only reading it you are also verbally saying it out into the universe and to yourself. The more you say it the more you believe it. Before I decided to do reiki and expand on my spirituality, I wanted to start my own bakery. I always told myself, “I run my own bakery business,” and “My cookies are one of a kind!” Guess what, I ran my own cookie business out of my home, and it was very successful. I say "was" because I chose to put my full focus on being a healer.

Though this is not the last way to manifest, the last one I am going to share with you is what we call a manifesting planner. As a beginner, there are manifesting journals already made and planned out for you on I currently using the Moonology Diary 2021 by Yasmin Boland.

I chose this one because I am currently studying astrology energies. There are all different types out there. Just find one that you feel called to use. What these planners do is help you layout what you can do to help manifest what you want. If you do not want to go buy one premade you can simply get any journal or notebook. For each thing on your list, come up with a S.M.A.R.T goal (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely).

Specific: Well defined, clear, and unambiguous

Measurable: With specific criteria that measure your progress toward the accomplishment of the goal

Achievable: Attainable and not impossible to achieve

Realistic: Within reach, realistic, and relevant to your life purpose

Timely: With a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. The purpose is to create urgency.

When you have filled in all areas of S.M.A.R.T you write down each time you did something to manifest your desire. With this technique, it is important to often look and go over the journal/notebook.

I do want to say, once you get used to manifesting and finding your way of manifesting that works for you, you won’t have to divide your list up, you can start manifesting it right on the spot. It starts to become second nature. Another thing I need to mention is not everything you put on your list when you first start out will be manifested. It is just at that time is what you were wanting, and it might change as time goes on to where you will not desire that want or need anymore. If you try any of these techniques on manifesting or used one I did not mention, please do share with me. I would love to hear from you and see what you came up with.
